Baby Room

In our baby room we are supporting the children through their milestones in all of the seven areas of development.

Focus at this age is more on the prime areas of Personal and social development, communication and language and physical development.

Recently our theme has been Autumn, a sensory insight into this beautiful season.

Of course joining in with Halloween fun and using the story Whatever next to prompt language development.

We love music and dancing

We all enjoy a wide variety of music styles and are able to express ourselves freely

Getting messy

Colours are all around us, and they play a crucial role in our lives from a very young age. For children, colours are not only captivating and visually stimulating, but they also have a significant impact on their development and overall well-being

Our first theme of the year in the baby room has been The jungle

We have used this interest to support the development of sounds and words for all the different stages of our babies development.

We have used books:

Dear Zoo which is a favourite here at nursery.

Also that’s not my Elephant , That’s not my Tiger, and That’s not my Lion, from the popular collection by Fiona Watt

Messy spaghetti!

Messy and sensory play is extremely important for a child’s development. It provides children with an exciting tactile and sensory experience that inspires their curiosity, allows them to explore the world around them and enhances their learning, language and creativity. Children learn through experimentation and discovery and messy play encourages children to explore new textures and manipulate different materials through touch

Pre School and Twinkles

On our return to nursery after Christmas Pre school and Twinkles join in the froggy Fingers educational Programme.

Our 2 week programme has given us excellent results over recent years and we feel it is an important part of our curriculum.

The children enjoy a finger gym which helps to build strength and control supporting the development of fine manipulative skills.

our practitioners plan some fantastic activities which they implement in small focus groups ensuring each child gets the attention and support they need.

The intent of this programme is to help the children to foster a comfortable and controlled pincer grip in preparation for pre writing skills.
