Physical Development
Gross Motor Skills
Our beautiful outdoor areas promote the development of gross motor skills for all our children.
The children access the outdoors twice a day with their own room so that they are not waiting long for equipment and to ensure their safety.
We have a large range of bikes, trikes, scooters, and prams enabling the children to learn coordination, balance, speed, control, and steering skills.
There are several climbing frames, slides and a wobbly bridge that require the children to challenge themselves and improve muscle strength flexibility and dexterity.
Fine motor skills
Fine motor skills are developed through our provisions of discovery areas in all of the rooms.
From our baby rooms with treasure baskets to the other rooms with racks of equipment to explore and discover using hand and eye co-ordination and the skills involved in the synchronisation of fingers and hands.

Froggy Fingers
Fine motor skills are crucial for the development of early writing skills and our pre-school children all join in a tried and tested programme to support the development of a comfortable and controlled pincer grip in readiness for school. The programme is fun and the children don’t realise they are doing anything other than having fun.
Our success with this programme is growing each year and currently many of our school leavers can recognise most letters and 70% can write their name.
