The Curriculum

At Lucy lockets day nursery Southport our curriculum follows the early year’s foundation stage. This sets the standards for the care learning and development of children from birth to five years.

Our nursery strives to create a home from home feel, where children feel safe, welcomed and respected.

When children feel safe and secure they are able to explore, discover and become deeply involved in the moment, resulting in learning and development.

When children feel free to express themselves and are confident to share their thoughts and feelings they can relax and have fun, making friends and building relationships fostering a true sense of belonging.

Embracing recent changes in the EYFS documentation our team of all qualified practitioners are well placed to support all our children to reach their own very best potential through allowing children to learn primarily through play and having a great deal of fun, whilst being offered a carefully planned variety of activities in line with and linking in with the children’s unique likes and interests and parent/carer information.

Our staff understand that all children are different and learn in different ways so to support this we ensure that all activities are differentiated to be enjoyable and developmentally appropriate for every child to enjoy.

All our staff are trained to create motivational play experiences, offering children an invitation to have a go, join in just by the way resources are set up.

Because our setting is a converted house in a residential area we link into our local community and champion local initiatives that the children will be familiar with creating further home links and ensuring children feel that nursery is an extension of home where fun learning and friendships are nurtured.

Both owners and managers of the nursery are available every day for face to face consultation and care deeply about being able to offer parental support however it may be needed.

Our nursery is small with no more than 8 children in a room giving the social experience yet ensuring that no child ever feels lost or unheard or just simply overwhelmed, At Lucy lockets we really are a family!
